One Designer Degree of Separation

I can’t resist sharing this unbelievable story of coincidence, in fact it is such a coincidence that it makes you wonder if there is indeed someone up there having fun, plucking our strings and making us dance together like marionettes on a stage!

This of course will only be of interest to those of you who follow the fashion World in all its minute detail of glamorous gossip, intrigue or otherwise! Please feel free to skip this blog if the later is a yawn.

So here it is… I spent a wonderful couple of days at Christmas catching up with 35 of my extended family from all over the globe, we were together for the first time in years. One of my fabulous cousins who is a creative in London and I were catching up as you do! It turns out that she was chatting to her neighbour just before she left, who has a studio next to hers in London. She mentioned that she was going home to New Zealand for Christmas. Her neighbour then said something along the lines of “really you don’t happen to know a NZ designer named ****”? and my cousin said ”yes” and then her neighbour said “you don’t happen to also know a designer named Tamsin Cooper then too”? My cousin then said “absolutely! she is my cousin and I am seeing her at Christmas!” I couldn’t believe it, my cousin’s neighbour is none other than the German designer for Top Shop Markus Lupfer who was mentioned in the media in relation to Trelise Cooper’s show at Fashion Week back in September 2009…

Who would have thought the World was that small huh?

So to 2010, Happy New Year and may we all enjoy the quirky coincidences that life throws our way!

New Winter Coat collection to sashay down the catwalk…

First week back this week, have been a bit sluggish to start, with grey skies and snow on the mountains. Thank goodness the week has ended on a high with Luke back from Hanoi bringing back some of my precious Winter samples. They look great and I can’t wait to show them to you all …but you will have to wait! My marketing guru Sharon was back today bubbly with ideas and sporting a Kaikoura tan which we are very jealous of here!

It is hard to believe it but my Winter Coat collection is due to arrive in the next few weeks and I am delighted to finally announce that for the first time, my coat collection will be available for you to buy directly on-line. So prepare to fall in love with these divine and decadent silk velvet coats. I am extremely happy with this new collection as I have gone back to my signature style, and have embellished them with delicate hand embroidered designs, velvet roses and sexy sequins. Hopefully there will be a coat to suit all of you!

I am stoked to have been invited to show my new collection of coats at the at the Stella Artois International Polo Invitational in the Angela Stone Fashion Tent in Christchurch on the 24th January 2010. Ticking off our “To do list”

Hi there, this is the first time I’ve actually had time to put words to blog so to speak! Strange time of year to launch a blog when we are tying things up for the year but it was on our must do “To do list” before the end of 2009.

So here we are looking forward to sharing our views on life and stories of our brand. What a year, two new babies darling Louis and our new brand “Tamsin Cooper for the Royal NZ Ballet” one of which is teething at the moment!

Feeling great to be at this point with a fantastic response to our Summer collection which is out there in the stores doing it’s thing! The Summer Rose collection was the pick of the season and has sold out on-line many times over! My Winter 10 designs have been put to bed and are being sampled at the moment. So its time for a break to enjoy Christmas with family. Hugo my six year old is bouncing off the walls (literally) with excitement due to pending arrival of the man in red. Booked in to “Fleurs” at Moeraki for New Years day lunch, can’t wait for a fix of salt air and rock pool hopping, oh and the odd glass of Pinot of course.
